Free Post Surgery Bras, Breast Prosthesis and Swimwear

Ladies, we have wonderful news to share. From January 2025, there are new allowances for post mastectomy garments and ALL ladies, resident in Ireland, who wear a breast prosthesis as a result of a breast cancer diagnosis, now qualify for them, including non-medical card holders.

If you wear a breast prosthesis as a result of cancer related surgery, you can avail of this annual allowance

• €400 annually towards the cost of two post surgery bras and one breast prosthesis. This allowance increases to €650 in the case of a double mastectomy.
• €150 annually towards the cost of one post surgery swimsuit and one swim prosthesis. This allowance increases to €215 in the case of a double mastectomy.

To avail of these allowances all you have to do is –
